Mélissa Smith is a Brooklyn based artist who created and performs The Magician’s Assistant. You can sometimes catch her playing bass with the Maine based band Bee Parks and the Hornets or creating and hosting content for the Arts Education Non Profit, Arts For All.

Meli began clowning as a humanitarian effort in South Florida over ten years ago and has gone on to clown in festivals, plays and musicals. She is certainly not new to performances for young audiences, but The Magician’s Assistant is her first full length solo show! The Magician’s Assistant had its NY debut as part of Frigid Fest in 2017. It then went on to play for kids from all 5 boroughs as part of the audience project produced by Arts For All, Inc. It also played to capacity crowds as part of the imagural Family Series at The Strand Theater in Rockland Maine.

In NYC she has performed at Ars Nova, The Public Theater, Abrons Arts Center, The Tank, Cloud City, Under St. Marks, The Kraine, Judson Memorial, Greenwood Cemetery and a few Subway platforms.
